Workshop: Immersives Audio!

Im Rahmen des 14. Berliner Hörspielfestivals bietet das Studio für Elektroakustische Musik Hörspielmacher:innen wieder den kostenfreien Workshop „Immersives Audio!“ an. Wer schon immer einmal aus dem Stereo-Panorama ausbrechen wollte und auf bis zu 16 Kanälen mit Audioerfahrungen in 3D experimentieren wollte, bekommt hier die Gelegenheit dazu. Zusammen mit dem Leiter des Studios, Malte Giesen, wird eigenes Material bis zu einer Länge von fünf Minuten – das können Hörspielszenen, Field recordings, Interviews oder Originaltöne und Sounds aller Art sein – exemplarisch bearbeitet. Dabei werden die verschiedenen Möglichkeiten der „Verräumlichung” von Klängen erläutert und ausprobiert.

Das Studio für Elektroakustische Musik der Akademie der Künste ist eine Einrichtung für experimentelle Klangkunst mit langer Tradition. Die Gründungspläne reichen bis in die frühen 1960er Jahre zurück bevor es 1986 der Öffentlichkeit vorgestellt wurde. Seit 1980 ist das Studio in der Akademie der Künste (Ost) Produktionsstätte und Treffpunkt von Komponist:innen und Meisterschüler:innen und realisierte zahlreiche Produktionen, Seminare und Konzerte unter anderem mit Georg Katzer, Heiner Goebbels oder Susann Maria Hempel. Ziel des Studios ist es weiterhin neue Initiativen auf dem Gebiet zeitbasierter, performativer, digitaler Künste an der Schnittstelle von Klang, Musik und Technik zu fördern. Der Workshop findet am 15. September 2023 von 10 bis 18 Uhr im Studio am Hanseatenweg statt und bietet Raum für acht Teilnehmer:innen.
Wenn es mehr Bewerber:innen als Plätze gibt, entscheidet das Los. Reise- oder Übernachtungskosten können leider nicht übernommen werden.

As part of the 14th Berlin Radio Play Festival, the Studio for Electroacoustic Music is once again offering audio playwrights the free workshop “Immersive Audio!”. If you’ve always wanted to break out of the stereo panorama and experiment with audio experiences in 3D on up to 16 channels, this is your chance. Together with the head of the studio, Malte Giesen, the participants will work on their own material up to a length of five minutes – these can be radio play scenes, field recordings, interviews or original sounds of all kinds. The various possibilities of “spatializing” sounds will be explained and tried out.

The Studio for Electroacoustic Music of the Academy of Arts is an institution for experimental sound art with a long tradition. Its founding plans date back to the early 1960s before it was introduced to the public in 1986. Since 1980, the studio in the Akademie der Künste (East) has been a production site and meeting place for composers and master students, and has realized numerous productions, seminars and concerts with Georg Katzer, Heiner Goebbels and Susann Maria Hempel, among others. The workshop will take place on September 15, 2023 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Studio am Hanseatenweg and has room for eight participants.
If there are more applicants than places, the decision will be made by lot. Unfortunately, travel and accommodation costs cannot be covered.
