Biografie:
VITA - LUISE GABEL Luise (1985*) was born in Cluj, Romania and emigrated shortly before the fall of the Berlin Wall, escaping the socialist regime with her family. She first got engaged with music in her teenage years as a hip hop artist and later as a singer for several band and studio projects. From 2005 she studied vocal performance and coaching at the “University for Music and Performing Arts”, Stuttgart and contemporary performance studies at the “School of Visual Theatre”, Jerusalem. She graduated 2012 summa cum laude, for her artistic exam and theoretical research about oral and linguistic aesthetics in postdramatic theatre. For the past 8 years, she has been working as a professional vocal performer for radio broadcast, television, cinema, gaming and audio publishers, such as ARD, ZDF, Arte, WDR, SWR, Deutschlandfunk, RBB, audible, der hörverlag, Constantin Film and many more. She wrote music for and worked as a vocal coach for several stage productions and song recitals in off- and state theatres like Schauspielhaus Zürich and Theaterhaus Jena. She is routinely working with the political performance-art collective “Zentrum für Politische Schönheit” and is a founding member of “Argo Ensemble” a collective around classical music, video and spoken word, that has been granted state funding for their upcoming concertperformances in architectural contexts. Since 2017 she is guest lecturer at HMDK Stuttgart, where she created a series of workshops around voice and imagery: how to use film images and score music to transform vocal expression in a recording situation. Luise always has been dealing with the connection between body and sound and is engaging in practises combining the two. She was trained as an instructor for yoga nidra, a meditation technique around voice-guiding the participants into a hypnagogic state, but also working with imagery and bodily sensations. She recently has been dealing with embodiment theories, cognitive neuroscience and psychoacoustics and also her works in the field of electro-acoustic music and sound design generally revolve around the subjects of space, texture, body and mind. VITA – Sebastian Fuchs Sebastian Fuchs (*1985) examines as a vocal performer the lyricality of words and the significance of noises. He starts his career with early sound experiments on poetry slam stages and forges the genre “sound stories” (“Geräuschgeschichten”). From 2004-2008 he studies vocal performance and coaching (“Sprechkunst und Kommunikationspädagogik”) at the Stuttgart University of Music and Performing Arts and works as a news presenter for the Südwestrundfunk. In 2007 the ensemble “Jazzpoesie” and the body music duo “fuchs+hahn” are formed. After his exams he moves to Berlin, working as a vocal coach at the University of Performing Arts “Ernst Busch” and in 2011 as a visiting professor at the Hamburg University of Music and Theatre. In 2012 Sebastian Fuchs launches a solo programme, named “Radio im Kopf”, creates mouth music for Bert Brechts “Saint Joan of the Stockyards” at the Schaubühne Berlin and records 10 pieces for the Deutschlandfunk Kultur format “Wurfsendung”. 2014 he founds the vocal sound quintet “Ohrlabor” and 2016 the meta Schlager project “GLITZER”. In remembrance of the swedish poet Tomas Tranströmer he conceptualizes a word concert with the percussionist Sebastian Flaig and 2017, together with the Viennese cellist Philipp Comploi, an experimental setup on the topic “time” for the Salzburg Mozarteum Foundation. 2019 the Goethe Institute New Zealand invites him to cooperate with Maori artists for the project “dry waters”. Currently Sebastian Fuchs is working on an artistic feature for Deutschlandfunk Kultur, which is reflecting on the accessibility of contemporary poetry by reference to the Berlin author Tom Schulz. VITA - STEFFEN DIX Steffen Dix (*1981) started playing saxophone at the age of 10 and first was trained in classical music. His teenage years made him move further to jazz as he got struck by improvised and funky music. He also began to play piano and guitar intuitively and got into DJing and beat production. From 2003 on Steffen Dix studied jazz at the “University of Music and Performing Arts“, Stuttgart and a semester abroad in Vienna where he also learned flute and clarinet, researched on world music and finally graduated summa cum laude in 2009. While taking his first steps as a freelance musician and touring with several jazz and brass bands from 2010 on he started recording sounds and experimenting in live performances with musicians and visual artists of various backgrounds and genres for his ambient project “endless“ which resulted in his first conceptual electro-acoustic release in 2018. His consistent interest for improvisation and rhythmic concepts made him travel to India in 2014 where he became friends with his teachers – a family of musicians from Varanasi – and founded the group “NeckarGanga“ which played several tours in europe and recorded two albums so far. In 2015 Steffen Dix joined the “La_Trottier Dance Collective“ as a composer and performing artist. So far he was involved in writing, producing and performing the music for numerous productions and continues working with the company. Steffen Dix also performs hardware techno live sets which he approaches with a hybrid setup of digital sequenzing and sampling combined with the unpredictable rawness of an analog modular system.
